Roofing at the base of the mountains
Alpine has worked hard to stay rural, so its homes sit on big lots right up against the mountains. Why that matters to you: a roof that close to the range runs colder in winter, and the older ones are old enough to have seen more than one replacement already.
It started as Mountainville
We work in Alpine, and it is a beautiful place to be on a roof. In early September 1850 the William Wordsworth family and six other settlers headed for the north end of Utah Valley, and the settlement they started was called Mountainville. It was granted a city charter on January 19, 1855, and Mountainville became Alpine, according to Alpine City’s own history. Today the city describes itself as sitting just at the base of the mountain range, with about 10,500 residents in around 2,689 homes, per its community page.
Keeping it rural
Alpine stayed small for a long time. In the 1950s it started a population explosion, and by 1962 there were 900 people here. By the early 1970s subdivisions were springing up in every direction, and residents asked the city to protect the rural look. In May 1971 the minimum frontage for a new home went from 70 feet to 90 feet, and some areas on the outskirts now require 110. That is a big part of why Alpine still feels the way it does. For your roof, it means the homes from those boom years are old enough that their roof is probably not the original, and if you are not sure how old yours is, that is exactly what an inspection answers.
Close to the mountains
The closer a home sits to the mountains, the higher and colder the roofline, and ice at the eaves becomes a real winter problem. On some roofs heat cable is the right call. On shingle roofs we recommend GAF Timberline HDZ or CertainTeed Landmark Pro, the same shingles that run in our packages, and on steeper rooflines we also install standing seam metal. Nearby, we also work in Lehi, Draper, American Fork, and Highland.
No commission, no pressure
Every free inspection starts with the drone and ends with a dated photo report, so you see exactly what we see. Our inspectors and sales reps are paid a salary, not commission, so if your roof has years left in it, that is what we will tell you.
Just a reminder, we have financing options available. Learn more about financing, or you can schedule a free inspection or simply give us a call.

Alpine roofing questions
Questions we get all the time from Alpine homeowners.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, in-house or through our lending partners. We help you weigh both during your free inspection. Military, first responders, and teachers get an automatic $500 off.
Do you handle insurance?
We inspect, mark, photograph, and give your insurance company a complete dated report. With your OK, we also answer your carrier’s questions about what we documented. We are roofers, not public adjusters, so we do not negotiate or file the claim for you, and we never promise a free roof. What we make sure of is that nothing on your roof goes undocumented.
What counts as an act of God?
Damage nobody caused. Hail, wind, lightning, a tree that came down in a storm. Nobody was careless and nobody skipped a repair, the weather just showed up. That is the kind of damage most homeowner policies are written for. What they usually will not cover is a roof that simply got old, which is exactly the line good photos win and bad photos lose.
How do I tell if I have storm damage?
From the ground, mostly you cannot, and that is the problem. Look for shingle granules in the gutters or at the downspout, lifted or missing shingles after wind, dents on soft metal like vents and downspouts, and any new stain on an upstairs ceiling. If you spot any of it, get the free inspection and we will document every slope before it turns into a leak.
Do you work on roofs with solar panels?
Yes, in-house. We hold the S202 Solar Photovoltaic classification on our Utah contractor license, so panels come off and go back on with the crew that does your roof. No second company, no second wait, and one warranty conversation instead of two.
Do Alpine homes need heat cables?
Some do, especially closer to the mountains. Alpine sits right at the base of the range, and the higher and colder a roofline sits, the more likely ice builds up at the eaves. We install heat cable where the roof calls for it, and we will tell you straight if yours does not.
My Alpine home is older. What should I watch for?
Its age, more than anything. Alpine’s big growth started in the 1950s, so a lot of homes here are old enough to have had more than one roof. If you do not know how old yours is, the free inspection will tell you, with dated photos of every slope.
Do you pull permits in Alpine?
Yes. We pull the reroof permit where the city requires one.
