How Sandy's post-war boom affects roofs today
Post-World War II, Sandy experienced massive growth. Why that matters to you: if your neighbor’s roof is getting replaced, yours most likely needs to be replaced too. The way the development happened was massive builds all at once, typically the same practice, the same style, the same everything.
300 subdivisions in 30 years
As the Second World War came to a close in 1945, growth started spreading across the valley. Beginning in 1960, Sandy annexed ten thousand acres and divided it into almost 300 subdivisions, and over the next thirty years the population exploded from about 3,300 to over 75,000, according to Sandy City’s own history. Massive neighborhoods went up, sports complexes, hotels, the expansion of the ski industry, and more. Because of that growth, whole neighborhoods age out together. That’s why we have so many documented jobs in Sandy, and why on a lot of our jobs we have roofed more than one neighbor.
Our backyard
We’ve been serving Utah since 2007, and Sandy is one of our favorite places to work because our headquarters is in South Jordan, so it’s only about a ten-minute drive. Sandy is really interesting. The oldest parts of town go back to the mining days, and some of those early brick houses are on the historic registers. But most of Sandy is newer than it feels.
Door to door, with no commission
That’s the way Sandy was developed, and that’s why our project managers go door to door to inform and educate the community and offer free inspections. Our inspectors and sales reps are paid a salary, not commission, and we never want you to feel cornered into purchasing something you don’t need. We value protecting your home and your family above everything else.
Ice, heat cable, and the bench
Most of our Sandy work sits on the east side of town. Of our 220+ documented residential jobs here, 113 are in the 84093 ZIP code and 48 more are in 84092, the part of Sandy that climbs toward the mountains. Because of the proximity to the mountains, Sandy sits a little higher up in the Salt Lake Valley, and on some roofs ice and heat cable is recommended. On shingle roofs we run GAF Timberline HDZ or CertainTeed Landmark Pro, the same shingles that come in our packages.
Just a reminder, we have financing options available. Learn more about financing, or you can schedule a free inspection or simply give us a call.
Recent work
Recent work in Sandy
We’ve been serving Utah since 2007, and Sandy is right next door. Check out some of the recent work.
A steep roof above the valley
A shingle roof on Sandy’s east side, up in 84092, with the whole valley below it. This one had a bit of a steeper angle, but that’s not a problem for our crew.
A siding job in Sandy
This one was a siding job, dumpster in the driveway and all. The roof is not the whole shell. Our siding work runs to the same standard as our roofs, which is how problems get caught where the roof meets the wall instead of hiding there.
Nearby, we also work in Draper, Midvale, South Jordan, Cottonwood Heights.

Sandy roofing questions
Questions we get all the time from Sandy homeowners.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, through our lending partners or our own in-house financing. Plenty of Sandy streets are replacing roofs around the same time, and we help each family find a payment that fits. Military, first responders, and teachers get an automatic $500 off.
Do you handle insurance?
We inspect, mark, photograph, and give your insurance company a complete dated report. With your OK, we also answer your carrier’s questions about what we documented. We are roofers, not public adjusters, so we do not negotiate or file the claim for you, and we never promise a free roof. What we make sure of is that nothing on your roof goes undocumented.
What counts as an act of God?
Damage nobody caused. Hail, wind, lightning, a tree that came down in a storm. Nobody was careless and nobody skipped a repair, the weather just showed up. That is the kind of damage most homeowner policies are written for. What they usually will not cover is a roof that simply got old, which is exactly the line good photos win and bad photos lose.
How do I tell if I have storm damage?
From the ground, mostly you cannot, and that is the problem. Look for shingle granules in the gutters or at the downspout, lifted or missing shingles after wind, dents on soft metal like vents and downspouts, and any new stain on an upstairs ceiling. If you spot any of it, get the free inspection and we will document every slope before it turns into a leak.
Do you work on roofs with solar panels?
Yes, in-house. We hold the S202 Solar Photovoltaic classification on our Utah contractor license, so panels come off and go back on with the crew that does your roof. No second company, no second wait, and one warranty conversation instead of two.
How old are most roofs in Sandy?
A lot of Sandy went up in the same few decades. After the war ended in 1945 the city platted nearly 300 subdivisions, and the population ran from about 3,300 in 1960 to over 75,000 by 1990. Whole neighborhoods hit roof-replacement age together, which is why we so often work multiple houses on the same street.
Do Sandy homes need heat cables?
On the east bench, often yes. The closer you get to the mountains, the higher and colder your roofline sits, and ice at the eaves becomes a real winter problem. We install heat cable where the roof calls for it, and we will tell you straight if yours does not.
Do you pull permits in Sandy?
Yes. We pull the reroof permit where the city requires one.
How many roofs have you actually done in Sandy?
220+ documented residential jobs, counted from our own job records, not an estimate. Most of them are on the east side: 113 in 84093 and 48 in 84092. Every one photographed.
What do the canyon winds do to Sandy roofs?
They find the weak shingles first. Wind coming out of the canyons lifts tabs and works at edges and ridgelines. If you spot lifted or missing shingles after a windstorm, get the free inspection and we will document every slope before it turns into a leak.
Do you really go door to door in Sandy?
Our project managers do, yes. When we are roofing in a neighborhood, they inform and educate the neighbors and offer free inspections. Nobody pushes, and the inspection is free either way.
