Questions about Definitive
The questions people ask before they hire us, answered straight.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Financing that works for you: in-house, or through our lending partners, for anything we do, repairs included. Ask during your free inspection and we will walk you through what fits. If you do not get approved, call or text us; we might be able to work with you. Military, first responders, and teachers get an automatic $500 off.
Do you handle insurance?
No roofer in Utah should tell you they handle or negotiate your claim. That belongs to you, your insurance company, and licensed public adjusters. What we do: we photograph and document the damage, measure the roof, and write a detailed estimate you can give your insurance company, and we explain what happens at each step so nothing surprises you. Insurance carriers even pay us to run their own inspections in hard-to-reach areas.
Do you work on roofs with solar panels?
Yes. We are licensed for solar work as well as roofing, so one company takes the panels down, replaces the roof, and puts them back. Check for solar tax credits and energy efficiency programs that may apply to you.
What counts as an "act of God" for a roof?
Usually a sudden event from nature: hail, a windstorm, lightning, or a tree that came down in a storm. Normal wear, age, and skipped maintenance usually are not. Your policy has the final word, so read it or ask your agent.
How can I tell if I have storm damage?
From the ground, look for dents in gutters, downspouts, and vents, shingle granules collecting in the gutters, missing or lifted shingles, and new leaks after a storm. Please do not climb up there. Our free inspection photographs every slope and shows you exactly what we found.
Who owns Definitive Construction?
Our founder still owns and runs it. We are based in South Jordan, Utah, at 901 Baxter Dr. He installed the first five roofs himself and wrote the operating procedures every job still follows.
How long have you been in business?
Since 2007. We started in solar in 2007 and expanded to roofing in 2018. Definitive Construction has been a licensed general building contractor in Utah since 2008. You can see the license details and look them up yourself.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We are licensed, insured, and bonded. Our Utah contractor license is 6933591-5501, with two classifications: B100 General Building and S202 Solar Photovoltaic.
Who actually does the work on my roof?
Crews that have been with us for more than four years. They are subcontract crews, and our A team works primarily only for us. A project manager from our team is on site for every job, every roof follows the same 86-task checklist, and pricing is transparent, with no upgrade line items.
Do your salespeople work on commission?
No. Our inspectors and sales reps are paid a salary, not commission. Nobody earns more by selling you more, and if your roof does not need work, we will tell you.
